Overview

 

As the Commercial Claims Advocate, reporting to the AVP Ontario Commercial Claims Advocacy, you will be a part of the Ontario Claims Team, working directly with clients to receive and advocate for claims results in a Commercial Insurance setting.


How you'll make an impact

- Intake of Commercial Lines clients’ new claims and reporting to the insurance company. 

- Conduct thorough reviews of policy wordings to ensure coverage aligns with the insured's needs and provide guidance on potential gaps or areas of concern. 

- Provide claims counselling to insureds as required in a professional and conscientious manner. 

- Develop and implement claims strategies to ensure timely and fair resolution of claims while minimizing potential disputes. 

- Inputting data using the Applied EPIC BMS system and reviewing as required. 

- Maintaining, coordinating, and updating client files with accurate and detailed documentation. 

- Liaising between insured and insurance carrier where appropriate, acting as a mediator to resolve disputes or disagreements regarding claims or policy interpretations. 

- Providing advocacy on claims on the client’s behalf with insurers, ensuring fair and equitable settlements by leveraging knowledge of policy wordings, industry practices, and legal precedents.

- Collaborating with underwriters to recommend and facilitate policy adjustments or endorsements based on claims experience or changes in the insured's risk profile.

- Coordinating with third-party vendors, such as appraisers and restoration companies to ensure timely and quality service delivery for clients. 

- Monitoring and analysing claims trends and data to identify patterns, recommend improvements, and provide insights to clients and internal teams. 

- Attending company-sponsored seminars and educational activities needed to maintain product knowledge and expertise. 

- Participating in special claims projects as required. 

- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients by providing exceptional service, addressing concerns promptly, and ensuring their needs are met during the claims process.  

- Providing training and mentorship to junior team members or colleagues on claims handling best practices, policy interpretation, and client advocacy.


About you

  • Completion of post-secondary education; Business Insurance program an asset
  • RIBO Licensed or have the ability to acquire RIBO license within 90 days of beginning is a requirement to join our team
  • CAIB or CIP designation or courses completed towards industry designations an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to efficiently use Broker Management software, followup systems and electronic filing systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Ability to multi‐task between a variety of tasks, projects, and deadlines
  • Comprehensive and effective verbal/written communication skills
  • Client service and/or claims experience
