Hands-on Product Application
- Learn each of the Sherwin-Williams automotive paint systems by studying the Product Data Sheets (PDS) and apply that knowledge in application sessions.
- Properly prepare surfaces using industry approved products.
- Mix paint according to the proper ratios listed on PDS’s.
- Identify common paint and coating defects and correctly communicate their solutions.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of coating application equipment and proper maintenance techniques.
- Respond to basic questions and concerns from the customer regarding product line(s) and general operations; generally involves task orientated situations and limited problem solving under direct supervision.
Online Learning
- Complete required Customer Service and Product Knowledge modules as assigned.
- Implement and share best practices regarding new products and customer training with team members, partnering closely with the Training Center teams.
Provide Training Support
- Attend I-CAR approved certification classes at the assigned Training Center, or alternative SW Automotive Training Centers.
- Assist Training Center personnel during customer and employee training classes.
- Work in the field with Training Center Manager, Specialist, and/or Regional Tech Reps at customer locations, assisting with new installs and customer complaints.
Continuous On-The-Job Learning
- Upon completion of the program, learning continues for 12 additional months in an assigned territory.
- Develop and document strategies to troubleshoot customer issues.
- Job shadow with Sr. Technical Reps & Technical Reps within the assigned and adjacent regions.
- Attend quarterly product training classes at the Regional Training Center in assigned region to learn advanced color matching and application techniques.
- Conduct new customer installs and product training in-shop with partner Technical Reps.
Required:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
- Must have a High School diploma or GED.
- Must have completed an Automotive Refinish Vocational program; have at least (2) years working in a collision repair shop; or have at least two (2) years’ experience working in a Sherwin-Williams Automotive Branch.
- Must be willing to relocate for this position, if required.
Preferred:
- Have a trade school degree in collision repair paint application, fleet and/or automotive refurbishment.
- Have at least one (1) year of experience in a technical service role in the paint and/or automotive coatings industry
- Have at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and/or Outlook).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Professional company provided or home office environment; however will be subject to travel and its associated factors and may be subject to moderate levels of dust, odors, fumes, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, loud noises, and other environmental factors found in manufacturing environments.
