The Steward/Dishwasher plays a key role in supporting food and beverage operations by ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and proper storage of all kitchen and service equipment. This position utilizes both manual and automated cleaning methods to meet Sodexo Live! sanitation standards and contributes to delivering exceptional event experiences at the Savannah Convention Center.
Primary Duties
Wash and sanitize china, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, utensils, and other food‑service equipment using manual methods or commercial dishwashing machines.
Ensure all cleaned items are properly dried, stored, and organized in designated locations.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen/work environment at all times.
Assist culinary and service teams by supplying clean and available equipment during events.
Follow all OSHA, MSDS, and food‑handling guidelines in accordance with Sodexo Live!
Uphold safety practices, including the safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
Support overall departmental goals, including contributing to a high level of guest satisfaction
***General Requirements***
General responsibilities when working a Dishwasher job assignment can include:
- Collect used kitchenware from dining and or kitchen areas
- Load and unload dishwashing machine, ensure complete cleanliness and sanitation of dishes
- Hand wash specific items according to assigned procedures
- Store and restock clean kitchenware
- Maintain cleaning supplies stock, transfer cleaning supplies between storage and work area
- Keep a clean and orderly workstation
- Comply with all sanitation and safety policies and procedures
- Wash work tables and other food prep areas to cleanliness standards
