Job Description

Ecolab, the leading global developer of premium cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products for the hospitality, institutional and industrial markets is seeking a Quality Manager.

The Quality Manager is a self-driven change agent who will be the Quality, Process Engineering, and ISO leader for a chemical liquids manufacturing plant that makes a wide range of industrial products located in Mississauga, Ontario

In this role, you will develop strategies for product and/or technology platforms, defining improved equipment and operational standards that can optimize future safety, efficiency, quality, and costs. You will deploy and roll out best practices through collaboration with RD&E, businesses and supply chain and will be the local leader for plant quality and closely interact with corporate to drive resolution and corrective action.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure all processes, designs, manufacturing, operating procedures and test methods adhere to company, regulatory and site safety requirements.
  • Provide technical and quality guidance to oversee qualifications and validations while working closely with Corporate Quality, Engineering, RD&E, and local Manufacturing.
  • Be the local representative for regulatory and trade agencies (Health Canada, ISO, NSF, or similar) including internal and external audits
  • Lead the plant Progressive Quality (PQ) pillar for TPM
  • Provide overall leadership for ISO 9001 & Good Manufacturing Practices at all manufacturing and warehousing locations supported.
  • Work cooperatively with Manufacturing, Distribution, Engineering, RD&E and Corporate MPDQ to lead root cause investigations and implement processes to resolve and prevent issues
  • Drive improvements to the manufacturing plant processes, procedures, raw materials and products including the QA lab.
  • Directs, assists, and provide resources for troubleshooting batches for process and/or raw material related issues.
  • Generate, implement and lead programs to improve quality indicators and plant performance, in line with cost, investment and service goals.
  • Ensure raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, plant equipment and distribution activities meet specifications
  • Provide training and auditing tools for Manufacturing and Distribution associates
  • Responsible for staffing, developing, and creating a safe work environment for all department staff.
  • Follows-up on complaints from customers to identify causes of product performance problems and makes appropriate recommendations and corrections.
  • Represents the plant on all internal/external audits and ensures compliance with quality related regulatory issues (Health Canada, GMP’s, etc.).
  • Qualifies vendors of alternate materials and sources to optimize quality, performance and manufacturing costs.  This will include specification review and analysis, and coordinating between purchasing and RD&E.
  • Works with Purchasing to qualify and rate local vendors of raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related
  • 4+ years working in a Quality Assurance or Process/Production Engineering role in a chemical or regulated environment
  • 3+ years experience supervising technical staff
  • Working knowledge of GMP’s and Process Engineering for regulated products
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and Quality Systems
  • Knowledge and experience with external Audits
  • Strong communication and presentation skills required
  • Experience in a Consumer Products industry with hygienic design standards
  • Experience or knowledge of continuous improvement programs

Position Details:

  • Plant Location: Mississauga, ON (Tomken/Timberlea)
  • Candidate must reside in: Greater Toronto Area

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • The position involves monitoring production on the Plant floor and involves working in an office setting, using a computer and telephone.
  • Work is carried out in a production and lab environment with exposure to disagreeable elements of the plant such as noise, temperature and occasional exposure to chemicals. Adherence to safety protocols will be required.
  • Occasional travel to the US for training/meetings will be required. 

Annual Compensation Range

This position has base salary and is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, per plan terms. Total expected compensation is in the range of $98,900 – $123,600

Ecolab in good faith anticipates it will pay within the posted range. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining the compensation for a potential new employee such as education, training, experience, work location, travel (if required), etc.
