Overview
Occupational Accident Branch Manager is designed for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in occupational accident (Occ Acc) insurance.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of complex coverage scenarios and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment. This position offers the flexibility of remote work with occasional travel to the Kansas City, MO branch. This role requires strong background in managing Occ Acc claims, leadership experience, and established relationships with underwriters (UWs), brokers, and carriers, particularly in the motor carrier sector.
The role requires expertise in unique coverage types that bridge Workers' Compensation and Liability, as well as a thorough understanding of policy limits, time-specific coverage periods, and injury-specific payouts. The candidate must also hold an Adjuster License and have a proven track record of leadership in managing claims professionals.
LOCATION: Kansas City, MO or within the driving distance.

How you'll make an impact
- Claims Management:
- Oversee and manage complex occupational accident claims.
- Provide expertise in unique coverage types, including supplemental insurance for truck drivers and injury-specific payouts.
- Ensure compliance with policy limits and time-specific coverage periods.
- Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of occupational accident claims professionals.
- Provide strategic direction and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Drive performance and ensure the team meets organizational goals.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with underwriters, brokers, and carriers, particularly in the motor carrier sector.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
- Coverage Expertise:
- Navigate complex coverage scenarios that bridge Workers' Compensation and Liability.
- Apply knowledge of coding practices similar to Workers' Compensation.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting occupational accident insurance.
- Travel and Remote Work:
- Work remotely while maintaining availability for occasional travel (15-20%) to the Kansas City, MO branch.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with the hybrid team.
6. Strategic Development:
- Contribute to the development of risk management strategies tailored to the occupational accident insurance space.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the claims management framework.
This role is ideal for a candidate with a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry relationships, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact in the occupational accident insurance sector.
About You
Required: High school diploma and 15 years related claim experience required. At least 5 of supervisor experience required. Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled. Knowledge of all team member related functions.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree preferred.
