Overview

In this role you will support the Arbitration and conciliation functions by facilitating and influencing the dispute process within Workers' compensation legislative requirements.

 

You will review and evaluate claims-based evidence, conduct thorough investigations of witness accounts, and make recommendations in accordance with work cover legislation if a disputed matter proceeds to arbitration or conciliation. You will attend the Work Injury Commission (WIC) as part of facilitating the disputes process, contributing to arbitration hearings and conciliation conferences, reviewing and submitting claims evidence, negotiating settlements and ensuring timely resolution.


How you'll make an impact

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage workflow and all tasks associated with the preparation of arbitration hearings and conciliation conferences, including the conduct of effective pre-arbitration and pre-conciliation reviews and engagement with injured workers and their representatives, employers and their representatives, WIC staff
  • Represent Gallagher Bassett at arbitration hearings and conciliation conferences which may be off-site
  • Manage daily workflow to maintain client service standards and comply with procedural and guideline requirements
  • Participate in the Senior Review process, reviewing decisions in accordance with legislation and WorkSafe framework and guidelines
  • Provide coaching and information sessions to clients and staff as required to enhance their understanding of arbitration and conciliation processes
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement

About you

What we are looking for:

  • Experience within Worker’s Compensation Industry, specifically within a claims management related role
  • Significant, in-depth understanding of the legislation (ACA & WIRC) and the WorkSafe and VWA guidelines and procedures, as well as practical application of these
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the workers' compensation industry, business requirements, and administrative practices and requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing various stakeholders
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • PC-literate with proficiency in database systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Coaching and mentoring skills to support team development and continuous improvement
  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline, such as law or a personal injury-related field, and/or demonstrated industry-specific qualifications
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
