Job Description

Sheridan MN is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Electronics Maintenance Tech to join our team at our Brainerd, MN facility.  In this vital role, you will be a key player on our 1st shift, responsible for maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting printing press, book binding equipment, and other various projects and repair work associated with a manufacturing plant, with emphasis on electronics.

 

Job Summary:

To ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained and/or repaired in an orderly and quality fashion to keep the plant operating productively.  To perform all electronic and mechanical duties as assigned.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complete all preventative, scheduled and emergency maintenance and repair work to facilities and equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic parts of production equipment.  
  • Perform safety measures in the design and installation of equipment.
  • Follow-up on and study recurring facility-oriented failures to find solutions.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials necessary for the operation of the building and manufacturing.
  • Assist with modifications, installation, and moving of equipment.  
  • Identify workplace hazards, which exist or could develop and correct problems.
  • Perform work to ensure procedures are within safety and governmental compliance.
  • Inform co-workers and employees of precautions and equipment.
  • Accurately record all repairs and maintenance performed in a repairs and maintenance log.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Industrial Electronics.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) or more years' mechanical experience.
  • Three (3) or more years' industrial electronics experience.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals and understand functionality of various electrical components.
  • Working knowledge of principles of relay logic and control circuits and can troubleshoot and maintain components.
  • Understand the workings of and effectively troubleshoot and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Knowledge of using testing equipment to diagnose issues with electrical components.
  • Understand the workings or and troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls.
  • Mechanical ability to understand, diagnose and maintain mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Good communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, working effectively in a team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

 

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a factory environment with regular exposure to paper dust, inks, chemicals, lubricants, noise and heat, and the physical hazards of machinery.

  • Walking: Must be able to walk as some tasks require walking.
  • Standing: Must be able to stand on a concrete floor, sometimes covered with rubber mats, up to 9 hours/day.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to frequently lift and carry signatures weighing up to 10 pounds at waist level from press folder to workstation for inspection (about 10 feet).
  • Pushing/Pulling: Must be able to occasionally push/pull skids of paper, weighing over 50 pounds, with hand lift trucks on a concrete floor.
  • Bending/Twisting: Must be able to bed at the waist, flexing knees, and twist body to perform such tasks as working in folder and setting ink.  Some days require more bending and twisting than others depending on press operations.
  • Climbing: Must be able to climb in, out and around press equipment (such as ladder on printing units) as needed to perform various tasks.
  • Kneeling: Must be able to perform various tasks in a kneeling position for various lengths of time.
  • Grasping/Reaching: Must be able to reach for and grasp signatures of varying thickness and weighing up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis from the press with fingers and hands.  Also requires flexing and bending of arms and wrists.
  • Sitting:  Some tasks allow for sitting – usually not for more than one hour/day.
