Job Description
Possibility of $2,500 in relocation assistance for eligible applicants!
- Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours), 8:00AM-4:30 PM (day shift!), Monday-Friday. Some call expectations & holiday call rotation requirements. This will be discussed further during interview.
- Department: Women's Center Operating Room (OR)
- Location: Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC
Unit Info: This is an OBGYN unit. The procedures are focused on Women's Health Operations. Some of the procedures consist of DNC's, operative labs, hysterectomy's, post-partum tubals, pelvic work etc. This is a wonderful close knit team.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.
- Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS-C, NRCST, or SA-C), preferred.
- Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements may apply: recommended for new graduates to obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
What You'll Do:
The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
