Job Details
Responsibilities:
Manage all project accounting functions from project startup through closeout
Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and financial performance
Prepare and maintain accurate job cost reports, WIP schedules, and financial forecasts
Review subcontractor invoices, vendor billings, lien waivers, and payment applications for accuracy and compliance
Assist project managers with cost tracking, forecasting, and financial analysis
Process owner billings and support accounts receivable collections activities
Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities related to assigned projects
Track contract changes, change orders, retainage, and contingency usage
Ensure compliance with contract terms, company policies, and accounting procedures
Support audit requests and assist with preparation of financial documentation
Collaborate with operations, project management, payroll, and executive leadership teams to provide timely financial reporting and analysis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry
Strong understanding of construction job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project forecasting
Experience supporting commercial construction or specialty contracting projects preferred
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Sage, or similar platforms
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting best practices
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
Experience with multi-state construction operations and compliance reporting
Familiarity with union payroll, retainage tracking, and contract administration
Prior experience working for a general contractor or specialty contractor preferred
